Joel Straus established Joel Straus Consulting (JSC) in 1996 to provide planning, procurement, management and appraisal services to corporations, hotels, foundations, municipalities, and private collectors nationwide. JSC creates specialized art programs focusing on the integration of art in landscape, architecture, and urban design. We approach projects with an artist's perspective and a business foundation. We work to discover unconventional art opportunities and use our knowledge of the art fabrication process to identify unique artworks for distinct sites. We are also qualified to appraise artwork of any scale and media in accordance with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

Joel Straus earned his Bachelor of Arts degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Wake Forest University in 1984. Straus began his career at Chicago's Richard Gray Gallery where he formed successful relationships with prominent artists and galleries worldwide. Over 11 years he worked in various capacities, eventually becoming the gallery's Assistant Director.
